Spending Money & Finances

Dear Jesus,

You were an individual who didn’t waste anything. Food, time and money. You used all of these wisely.

Thank you for providing me with the means to purchase what I need.

It can be difficult sometimes keeping a tight rein on how much money to spend.

Help me to make wise choices in my expenses, to budget and to use the money on the kind of things you care about.

What are those things that you care about Lord?

In your Name,

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for my job and the privilege to earn a wage.

But also, thank you that even when there is no source of income you still provide for us.

You do in so many ways.

You feel strongly about making sure that your children are clothed, fed, happy and growing.

You said you would take care of these things if we just focus on the things that represent you.

Help me to understand this everytime I prioritise having money and things over having you and your nature.

You said that being rich is not about having lots of money but becoming people with good qualities and good values.

Your qualities, your values and your riches.

In your Name,

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for providing us with the opportunity to work and earn a living.

Not just to work but also to learn, discover, practise and acquire new skills.

I realise that being able to work is an opportunity for us to practise self-discipline as we rise early and manage heavy workloads.

And also to practise good money management as we earn a wage.

Thank you Lord, these things are important to you too.

You said that to find enjoyment in our work is something that you provide.

Help us learn to find enjoyment in what we do.

In your Name,

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for a wage to buy the basic nessecities of life.

Food, clothes, shelter and all other things that help us to enjoy life.

You don’t just provide through our wages but you provide through many other ways.

Friends, family and strangers.

Open our minds to the ways you tell us that you are with us everyday.

So we don’t lose our strength, so we can stay happy and so we can stay connected to you.

In your Name,

Dear Jesus,

How did you manage the money you earned when you were working as a carpenter?

Did you save it? Did you give it to your family? What did you buy? What didn’t you buy?

There is something I’d really like to buy. I think its good and it is valuable, it is lovely and it is of good estimation.

Do you think so too?

In your Name,

Dear Jesus,

It is really good that we can go out, work and earn a wage.

Because it gives us the opportunity to do useful things with the money that we earn.

Things like, giving back to others in need, buying things that will help us and most of all giving back to you.

Gives us the wisdom on how to manage our money wisely so that all these good things don’t get forgotten.

For I know it is teaching me everytime not to hold on too tightly to my money, to put the important things first and to practise generosity.

In your Name,

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for providing work and the strength to carry out that work.

But also thank you for rest. Rest is so much more sweeter after a hard days work.

You talked alot about hard work in the bible. You talked about the ant how they work and save to provide.

Help us to be like that, not just to work but to work with a purpose and to put what what we recieve to good use.

In your Name,
